Alex Procope will be discussing incapacity and estate planning at a webinar organized by The Canadian Association of Black Lawyers taking place on April 30, 2020. The COVID-19 crisis has pushed estate planning documentation to the front of mind for many of us and the panel will be outlining what documentation is important and what happens without it in Ontario and B.C.
The detailed description of the program follows:
- Estate planning tools we should all have in place and encourage our family members, friends and community members to implement;
- Plans and arrangements we should have in place as professionals to minimize disruptions to our practices or businesses, including succession arrangements for solo practitioners operating as small businesses or through professional corporations;
- The effects of not having an estate plan in place;
- How we can put these plans in place or make the necessary arrangements under the current conditions; and how we may manage the affairs of a loved one under the current conditions, if we are called upon to do so, including dealing with financial institutions during COVID-19.
